Fresh Blueberry Pie Recipe

One of the great things about living in Florida is all the fresh produce, and we get it before anyone else in the country gets it. Right now is early berry season here and we're able to get fresh strawberries from Plant City and blueberries from Winter Haven. Since the blueberries were on sale 2/$5 at Publix and I had a nice vintage recipe for blueberry pie with a lattice top I figured I'd give it a go.

Blueberry Lattice Pie

2 Pie Crusts
2 Pints Blueberries
3/4C Sugar
1/4C Flour
2T Lemon Juice
1T Butter

Pre Heat your oven to 425°. Line a 9" pie pan with the bottom crust and whack it on the counter a couple times to ensure there's no air pockets. Fill the crust with the blueberries picking out any that are bad. Mix flour and sugar and then pour over the berries. Sprinkle the lemon juice over and dot with the butter. Take your top crust and cut into 1/2" strips. Form a lattice crust on top with the strips in the following manner:

Lay the first strip slightly off center on top of the pie, turn the pie 1/4 turn clockwise and lay the next strip slightly offcenter. You weave the strips buy turning up the horizontal strips as you lay the next vertical strip.  Here's the nutritional information, it's pie, it's dessert so it's full of calories but it does taste good and just remember my motto, "Everything in moderation."
